The 8million is an estimate of how many kindles will be sold this year. The 7 million iPads was for the first six months. Apple is on track to sell 12million iPads this "year", which is only 9 months of selling.

Even so, it's great news that the Kindle is doing so well. That $139 price point has opened the flood gates. Just wait until next Christmas when that number drops to $99
