Even the slowest possible cable or ASDL speed you can get in the Netherlands (1 MBit, 0.125 MB/s) will still download Calibre in less than 7 minutes.
So the OP either has a dreadfully slow internet connection, or there is something dreadfully wrong with his system (wrong configuration), network (like a router dropping a huge number of packets), network card (bad driver?), or cables.
Even though Calibre is 52 MB large, a download should not take more than 10 minutes *tops*, assuming you're not downloading by dial-up (ISDN) anymore.
