This does appear to be the thing that both the pro-Apple and pro-Android commentators agree on. That the iPhone 5 is a reasonable upgrade for existing iPhone owners but doesn't seem to offer a compelling reason for Android owners to switch.
By extension that would also mean that it hasn't put clear water between itself and its competition when attracting first time smartphone buyers.
It will be interesting to see if this recaptures market share for Apple, or whether the (no doubt) massive sales of the phone are largely to existing iPhone users.
