noctilux If you've been able to convert to MOBI, then use Calibre to convert the MOBI to ePUB, you could then use the ePUBSplit plugin to do the splitting into smaller chunks, and convert those to MOBI.
If you don't have a MOBI yet, then convert the HTML to ePUB.
But before I did any of that I would consult with ePUBSplit author (Kiwidude) to see if he has any reservations about dealing with a very large ePUB - because another conversion will probably take about the same time to complete as the one you already did
