we didn't have a TV until my kids were 9 and 4. during those years, walking, playing games, reading, doing crafts, etc were the primary past times. after tv came into out home, tv watching time was very limited. there were family reading, game, walking, etc times. I guess it depends on your priorities.

as far as the poll... I abhor screaming children, as well as miss behaving ones. I've gotten to the point in life where I will say something to both the children and parents in public. I tend to work a lot with teens both in scouts and previously at ski schools. this morning on my way into work ironically enough, I was contemplating getting into fostering, but only teen aged kids.
