My fix had to do with the startup of the computer..
I had used msconfig to list the startup programs and had eliminated some prior to downloading the revision..when I used google to find out what you meant by
"direct connection to the web or is it via a proxy", I realized I had eliminated some of the startups found in msconfig results.. I enabled all of the missing programs, found a "trojan slob" in doing so at the start up and then tried your program and everything worked out okay.. I attribute this to luck and remembering what I had done prior to your revision.
