I don't, personally, miss color, though if I were going to use a reader for all my magazine subscriptions (e.g. Make, Art Jewelry, etc.) I might change my mind. So far, when I care about color, I care enough about image quality that none of the electronic solutions is adequate.
But imagine this with a wacom tablet (that actually has calibration and pressure sensitivity enabled) and decent paint software....
