You can get apps to read most formats, including the Kindle app for mobi and azw, and aldiko for epub. You can choose to hold the tablet in portrait or landscape.
Nice screen, don't turn the brightness up too much though or it will get tiring. If you use aldiko you can set a beige background instead of white.
