Well, I talked to Amazon twice more yesterday--really, they should keep their representatives up to speed. Everyone has a different story. The last guy yesterday said it was cases made around September that were buggy (but maybe he just said that because that's when I got mine). I took it out of the case as you advised and it works fine. They are refunding my case amount and I bought an M-Edge case because the case does not physically engage with the kindle, which has to be the issue, right?
I wonder if anyone has a more recent case that is the problem. Maybe what he meant was they took all the cases from that batch off the internet. But really, the representatives are generally nice but they don't seem to really KNOW what the problem is
