Machen, Arthur: The Terror, v.1, 10 January 2009.

Arthur Machen (1863–1947)
The Terror (1917)

A novella, or short novel, set in Wales in the early years of the First World War. People die in mysterious ways. Wartime censorship means that the truth is not going to emerge easily. Dr Lewis investigates. Are the deaths due to accident, a German death-ray, covert German forces, or something much more sinister?
