If they did it that way, they might be successful, though frankly they would need to make it easy for people to import their current books into their iBooks library
. As it is, fictionwise makes it pretty easy to access any book you have bought from them in the past as long as you have a wifi connection (or I imagine a wireless signal if you are using the phone).
