Sorry for several brief replies - but I am just thinking through all the issues.
It seems also that you would want to fix this so it cannot happen - for I also could imagine the following. Let's say I recognized the linux naming length problem in windows - and corrected the name before having the library opened in windows.
Wouldn't the next time I worked with the library in linux - if I was in any way to alter that file's metadata (or at least part of it that affected the name or location of the directory or file - that the problem would re-occur?
