An SD card is an SD card. They can handle any type of digital file. The "cell phone memory" and "music, videos, games..." is just marketing material they put on the box.

The PP does not support eReder files. It supports certain types of PDB files. PDB is a container format (think zip file) which can store a number of different ebook formats inside of it.
