Author edits best selling book due to 3 complaints from 150,000 sales

This makes me feel all icky inside!

Guardian story

the change of word from twat to twit will have a big impact for me on the tone of what the charachter is saying and in what the character is.

In my mind someone who is 19 and uses the word twit as opposed to the word twat moves from being a normal 19 year old into a bit of a softy mummys boy.

Is my initial reaction to this over the top? just seems to me a retail store are in effect blackmailing an author to get a book edited and that feels wrong to me.
