While on the subject, I have seen one or two applications that couldn't handle IP addresses at all. They pass them to DNS for resolution, and when it fails they don't attempt to connect directly. If that is the case for WordPlayer, then dyndns might be the answer. Set up an account, point your name at 192.168.0.192, and poof! No IP address in the URL line.
