Mobipocket is dead. Kindle format makes a lot more sense going forward.

(And anyone who's been using ebooks since before the Kindle came on the scene also has no problem knowing what's meant by Kindle format.)
Mobipocket files should be named Mobi or Mobipocket as that's the format. KF8/AZW3 should be named for what they are. You see, the problem is that you'll call them Kindle books and we'll talk about them for what they are Mobi/AZW or KF8/AZW3 and the then there will be confusion because you've misnamed the format of the eBooks. Do you want that because you misnamed the formats? I would hope not. Why not call ePub a non-kindle book? That is what it is. But it's also WRONG. Just like calling Mobipocket a Kindle Format is also WRONG! It's not Kindle Format. It's Mobipocket. It's Not Kindle Format, it's KF8. Some may know them as AZW, Mobi, KF8, AZW3, but not many know them as the incorrect Kindle Format.

That would be like us calling you Frank when your name is Paul. We don't do that because it's WRONG. So don't arbitrarily change the name of eBooks the Kindle handles because it's WRONG.
