I wonder if one approach to reactivating the stats on kEpubs could be a two stage operation.
Step 1: Send the kEpub to the Kobo as now, and disconnect the device to allow the book to be processed and added to the database
Step 2: Reattach the Kobo, and move the kepub to the .kobo/kepub directory (along with a possible rename) and then update the already existing database entries to reflect the move (and possible rename).
