I’ve collected eight short stories by Gogol, plus an essay on Gogol by William Lyon Phelps.
Contents:
Gogol by William Lyon Phelps
1. The Cloak (also known as ‘the Overcoat’)
2. The Mysterious Portrait
3. St John’s Eve
4. The Calash
5. How the Two Ivans Quarrelled
6. The Nose
7. Old-Fashioned Farmers
8. A May Evening
Most (possibly all) of the translations are by Isabel Hapgood. The sources were PG, Wikisource etc.
Roy White has posted some of these stories, though in a version without paragraph breaks. This version has paragraph breaks, curly quotes, a TOC etc. But Roy’s has illustrations.
