I finally found a post that fixed it. Not sure what was different but I removed the metadata.db file and it came back this time. I just knew that if I had to rebuild it, the metadata was there but not copying and many of these fanfics have been pulled so updating wasn't working.
My impression from the discussion I had read was that FFDL/FFF would download all the data, but would only fill in what was assigned to a column. Is this correct? Just for future knowledge. I know me. I can crash a Mac. Which is why I have PC's.
