Cool Serial Stories

Serial stories are OK, I guess. Yeah, they can be interesting in the hands of a really outstanding writer. Charles Dickens entertained the London reader by posting daily serials of his lengthy novels in the newspaper they purchased. A great extra asset to getting the news was ultimately wrapping their fish and chips in the paper later. When I was a girl, my brothers and sisters and I rushed for the comics every day of the week when the newspaper came. Newspapers have been a great bargain over the years precisely because of specialty items like cartoons and, way back when, serials. They belong in places like newspapers, or as emails to customers, if they order them. The post in the SMASHWORDS column recently that indicated a special slot and time for running serials, along with having the writer file their completed novel ahead of time, makes the most sense. Comics, anyone?
