Robert A Heinlein has already used this as a youth restoration method in Methuselah's Children, published in 1958. I suspect he did that because of the experiments in the 1950s by Dr McCay mentioned in the article.

It is a fascinating article, and one hopes that it will turn out that the benefits can be achieved without the possible side-effects mentioned.
