Apparently the light doubles the use of the battery power, however the Kindle has a very long battery life so it's not like you'll be charging it every night, more like every couple of weeks.
If you use the light regularly then it makes sense because you won't have to replace batteries, if you use it rarely then you won't be inconvenienced by the power the integrated light takes.
However, if you prefer the medge light for other reasons (e.g. shape/size/removability etc.) then maybe a different cover is for you.
