I didn't see a source in the OP so don't know from whom or where the error came.
The article is not saying Android owns 40% of the market. What it is saying is Android tablets sales are selling 40% of iPad Sales. In other words for every 5 iPads sold there are 2 Android tablets sold.

Their talking to the statement: "There is no Tablet market, it's an iPad market."
