Oops -- for some reason, just plugging the Touch into my iMac and getting into the Kobobooks website seems to have fixed the problem. When I ejected then unplugged it, the Home page immediately appeared with a "Welcome" banner over it. When I clicked it and pressed Library, everything was there. Whew!
