In principle, it can. Actually getting it to work would be somewhat non-trivial. Basically you'd need to make sure that whatever directory calibre is installed in, is in your path before launching it. Also if you want to use the GUI, then you have to make sure that the library1.db file is in the same location (absolute path) on all computers, or when you launch the GUI you'd have to manually choose the location of an existing library1.db
