I can only comment on the CyBook. It has an excellent dictionary lookup mode, which works extremely well. Basically you select "Lookup Mode" from the menu, and the nav keys then act as a four-way cursor selecting a word at a time moving up, down, left or right. You press the "Select" button to look up the highlighted word. MobiPocket sell a very wide range of dictionaries which will work on the Gen3, both general-purpose and specialist (such as the various Oxford dictionaries of art, architecture, classical literature, religion, etc etc).

You can't search on the Gen3, but you CAN search on the MobiPocket desktop reader (and on the PDA version too, for that matter), so if you're happy to do your searching on a desktop PC there's no problem (you can read your books on both).
