goody; i hadn't realized there was an actual GPS processor (or whatever), but figured location was calculated off proximity to cell towers... and thus one might need a dataplan to get location. Sounds like GPS will work regardless of 3G dataplan (but yeah, only with the 3G model).
...had i known that, i prolly woulda sprung for the 3G version myself.
