Did you try Jasoraso's method? Use the stock browser with User Agent set to mobile (not desktop) and launch the download from your library site on the NC.
I just checked out an mp3 audiobook and it worked great.
Are you getting to the Overdrive download screen on your device? If not, then the size isn't the problem. If you are and the download fails .... not sure what the problem might be. The part I downloaded correctly to test was 32MB.
