On a KOBO Vox is there any way to "identify" books that have been read without deleting them from the library? Can they be moved to a different shelf and if so how do I create shelfs?

Also I am using Calibre to move books to my reader and I cannot get the cover to go over on some books. I have deleted the books in the reader and reuploaded them and also obtained a different cover via Calibre but to no avail. Any thoughts?
