Pdf und 5-Zoll-Gerät ist fast immer problematisch, da die meisten pdf-Dateien auf A4-Größe formatiert sind (ich weiß allerdings nicht, ob das für Deine Dateien zutrifft).
Eine kleine Verbesserung ist das Lesen im Querformat, eine zweite ist das Beschneiden der Seitenränder der pdf-Dateien am PC.
