I envision a future where everyone has chips implanted at a very young age that allow everyone to communicate instantly with every other person on the planet. Susie in San Francisco can allow her friend Ching Lan in China to see the Golden Gate through her eyes. In return, Ching Lan can share her view of the Great Wall with Susie. Their conversation won't be impaired by the fact that Ching Lan speaks no English and Susie speaks no Chinese because they'll be speaking over the Internet and Google Translate will have been perfected by the addition of nearly-perfect artificial intelligence. In fact, languages will not be an insurmountable obstacle anywhere because whenever people encounter others who don't speak their language, they'll simply shut up and communicate via their implanted chips.
When people want to work in a more traditional computer mode, they'll call up a screen and also a virtual keyboard if they like that only they can see. To them, the keyboard will seen physical. They'll be able to feel the keys because the chips will be feeding the tactile information directly into their brains. Naturally, most people will choose to forgo the keyboard and simple use their Dragon NaturallyThinking software that allows them to think their words onto the page.
And because the implants will allow for the ultimate virtual reality experience, people will be able to enjoy sex with any other willing person on the planet. The only thing missing will some of the unintended consequences.
