Is "language description" modified when uploading

Problem:

On my Kindle 3 Wi-Fi, to the builtin English dictionary, I have added a custom French dictionary.

My default dictionary is the English one.

Then I add books MANUALY to my device (copying to the documents folder) and search for a word, French books invoke the French dictionary and English books invoke the English dictionary. Automatically. The desired behaviour.

When I add the same books (same files) with CALIBRE searching for a word now only invoke the English dictionary, for all books either French or English.

Solution:?

I am guessing this is related to metadata describing the language of the books and of the dictionaries.

Is that addressed by some setting somewhere in Calibre? Surly someone already solved this?

In the meantime I can continue to maintain my library with Calibre -- fantastic application by the way -- and just perform a manual copying of books to the Kindle.
