I imagine it wouldn't sell terribly well.

Remote controls by their very definition are designed to operate an appliance that's more than an arm's length away. The weight argument has some merit, but many of the eReaders I've encountered are closer to 7 oz. than the 19 oz. of the Kindle DX; often lighter than the paperback book they've replaced.
