With its glowlight turned off the text on the Nook with Glowlight
might degrade, I can't tell if it if it does, but the point of having the glowlight is to turn it on. I've left the glowlight on my Nook at 1/3 brightness and it makes reading in normal indoor lighting like sitting under a reading lamp or reading outdoors on a sunny day. In actual use, the Nook glowlight works better than it looks like it will when viewed under the store's powerful overhead lighting. I can't imagine the Kindle being less effective.
I feel the front light is an important upgrade--well, maybe it's a minor upgrade in the sense of being easy for them to do--but it is a big improvement in readability.
I agree that it would be great if they would fix the way the Nook handles sideloaded books on the SD card. It drops them out of your categories (Nook calls them Shelves) every time you update the contents of your SD card but that could probably be fixed with a software upgrade.
