Because geographic restrictions suck and the US seems to have the largest selection of available books. Publishers seem to be more willing to make books available as e-books in the US market then they are in other markets.

This is not Amazon, BN, Sony, Kobos, or any one of the major bookstores decision. It is the publishers decision and something that the bookstores cannot control.
