Michael Burlingame's Abraham Lincoln: A Life. It is the most comprehensive biography of perhaps our greatest president, and probably
the president who most added meaning through his actions and his life to the words of our Declaration of Independence.
Of course, it would do none any harm to read the
Declaration of Independence in its entirety. These are still words to be treasured and applied.
