Ethel Holdsworth (AKA Ethel Carnie or Ethel Carnie Holdsworth) was a British writer and social reformer. She was born and brought up in Lancashire mill towns and her novel, "Helen of Four Gates", published under the pseudonym "An Ex-Mill Girl", makes extensive use of the Lancashire dialect (which can make proof-reading a tricky task).
