.rar to ePub

Assuming you have a legal right to do this.

01) Scan the .rar file with a virus detector program BEFORE you open it.
Co-workers are just as likely to give you a virus as a web site, maybe more likely.

02) If the file is clean, open the .rar file INSIDE a folder.
.rar's will usually open into a bunch of .jpgs
In other words, a picture of each page of a book. magazine, comic or manga.
You can not copy text off .jpg pages.

03) It is best to download the FREE Calibre app for your operating system (Mac, Linux or Windows).

Calibre can change the format of almost anything into everything.

When I downloaded Calibre it converted files between CBZ, CBR, CBC, CHM, DJVU, DOCX, EPUB, FB2, HTML, HTMLZ, LIT, LRF, MOBI, ODT, PDF, PRC, PDB, PML, RB, RTF, SNB, TCR, TXT, TXTZ documents.
* This is an old list, so it probably converts more file formats than these.*

04) Then, direct Calibre to convert the file, inside the folder, into the format you want, in this case an epub.

* I think you can drop the folder on the Calibre app and it will ask what you want to do with it.
Calibre is very easy to use. *

05) Wait till it finishes the conversion, usually less than a minute.

06) Open the converted file with your .epub reader app. and enjoy.

I do not advise making a .pdf from .jpgs as you will make the file size even larger.
Convert the .jpgs into either an .epub or a .djvu file, depending what you want to read it on.
These two formats have the smallest file size.

*** Remember, every time you reduce a file's size or convert a file, it gets slightly more blurry. ***

* Note: You can see/read a set of .jpg inside a folder using a .chm reader. *

.chm readers are the applications most frequently used to read .jpg format books, like technical manuals, comics and manga.

There are quite a few FREE .chm readers.

Of course, you can just look at each .jpg one at a time and skip converting it.
If I am not keeping the .jpgs, I usually do this.

I highlight the first .jpg and press my space bar once.
It lets me see a preview of the .jpg, without opening it.
Then I just arrow down thru all the .jpgs.
When done, I delete the folder, .jpgs and all.

I hope this helps you.
