Smashwords new requirements for the Premium catalog require 1400 pixels on the *short* side. There is NO REASON WHATSOEVER for an ebook cover to be 1400 pixels wide. (I don't care if it's showing full-screen on an iPad; an ebook cover never needs to look *bigger* than a paperback cover. Ever.)
So far, Amazon is still taking smaller images for the catalog.

It's not "for" Smashwords--it's because Apple has set it as a requirement for width starting August 1st. FWIW, absolute bollocks IMHO.
