Just one simple reason: if you have a huge ebooks "flood" stored on your local hard drive (50-70GB, 250K titles in 50+ zip-archives), TinyOPDS will process that library in thousand times faster than Calibry
There are few more less significant advantages, like a real tiny size - 700Kb instead of 49MB, proper cyrillic support, advanced open search etc.
