Maybe they don't do that because charging using a PSP charger is quite faster than using the USB cable. Sounds nice, but may be a big drawback: Faster charging needs more amperes put through the line, causing stronger heat up of the battery - this may destroy the battery in a very short time.
As long as we all don't know about the specifications of the built-in battery (is it capaple of fast recharging?), we should NOT recommend using the PSP charger without any objections.
The fact that Sony people use the PSP charger does not matter much: If this guys have a defective battery, they simply change it. That's a thing we're not able to.

I consider charging via USB the safer way until I get hold of the batterie's specifications.
