I've done so on my Toshiba Libretto, Windows 7.
But result is the very same: You have a high resolution, but text is too small for your display size. Whatever way you solve it, eventually you don't have any advantage of the high resolution. Some may say, text looks sharper. But does this really matter (or is it even obvious) if the text is big enough?
