Hyde, H. Montgomery: Room 3603, v3, 5 Jan 2009
Room 3603 is subtitled The Story of the British Intelligence Center in New York during World War II. It deals with Intelligence activities by the British Government in the Western Hemisphere during World War II. In large part, it is story of the heroic efforts of one man, William Stephenson, who was responsible in large part for the successes of the American OSS established after war was declared by the US after Pearl Harbor. It has a forward by Ian Fleming, himself no stranger to intelligence services, and was titled the Quiet Canadian in the UK.
Because the author died in 1989, this book is in copyright everywhere but the US, where for some unaccountable reason, the copyright was not renewed. (The copyrights were renewed on numerous other books by this author.)
