If in desperate straits, a pencil with eraser tip works!
In the UK, Poundland sell a selection of DS, Nintendo pattern types - all too thick for 650, but a bit better than the pencil route. A wide elastic band across reader top/bottom, or around cover, will keep it under control when not in use.
That's while you're waiting for any response from Sony (lay in a few replacements is my advice !)
And considerably cheaper
