Sadly that's actually a pretty good answer from the help desk as they actually responded to what you wrote them (often the response seems random and ignore what you actually said). Unfortunately the people staffing it don't have the huge range of product knowledge you'll get here, so likely they don't realize that comics can be read and that for pdf etc it will work in landscape.
