Given Windows Phone 7's walled garden approach similar to iOS, I don't think you'll be able to sideload ebooks via USB (at least until Microsoft releases an API for that like Apple did with iTunes). You'll need to enable the content server on Calibre and download ebooks via wi-fi. Freda, an ebook reader app, supports Calibre's catalog feeds.
