Thumbs up Greetings, folks!

After decades of using anything but a dedicated e-reader to read our ebooks, I finally gave in and bought a Kobo WiFi today. It was cheap enough (49 quid in WH Smiths), it seemed to do the job. It's on charge now.

What have we been using so far?
Mostly the Palm Tungsten E2 with the free 'Cspotrun' reader, and a slew of 1GB SD cards for the books/MP3s/etc. Great system, but it's wearing out now, and they don't seem to make them any more.

And of course there's the laptop/netbook/smartbook option - best of this lot to date is the Toshiba AC100 smartbook - bought ours for 130 quid new and it runs nearly 14 hours when used as an e-reader. We don't love Android 2.2, but it works OK.

Thanks to this forum we found the Kobo Desktop for Linux links - no sign on the Kobo web site, which is a pity. Without the Mobileread link I might have thrown it back at WH Smiths, since we use Linux exclusively now, and the young man there had assured me that the Kobo worked with any PC....

So I've signed up! Hello Everybody!
