So Apple may have to:
1) Offer free bumpers to current and future buyers
2) Recalibrate the signal bars as noted in the iOS4.1 beta
and most importantly:
3) Offer the 30 day money back guarantee with no restocking fee for anyone who already bought one, and doesn't like the bumper "fix" idea or the "calibration" fix.
For those of you who own an iPhone 4-would that satisfy your needs?
(My wife had already picked out two bumpers, green and pink, to go with her future white iPhone...so none of this made much difference to her
