That sounds like an extremely reliable indicator.
Our average September temperature is 90F. For the first half of this month it's averaged 97F. We should finally get some rain tomorrow night (won't do much for our severe drought though), and with a cold front coming through we should be down in the 80s by the weekend. Yippee!
