All Mobileread installable packages require the Mobileread signature certificate (called here a: "Jailbreak") installed first.
All of our packages are crypto-signed and use the Amazon built-in updater (which checks the signature using our public key).
All of our packages are also "model locked", to lessen the chance of someone installing one on the wrong model of Kindle.
Both requirements are the Amazon standard for installable packages using the Amazon installer.
While they may be referred to as "Hacks" - the package handling is actually "Engineered" here to the Amazon requirements.
The members here are justly proud to be able to offer after-market add-ons that meet or exceed the quality of the manufacturer's products.
Just check the view counts on some of these add-ons, we probably have millions of users.
